Peterborough - Home of PILA

Peterborough is located in Cambridgeshire in the East of England - with its famous medieval cathedral Peterborough is only 85 miles from London and 45 miles from the university city of Cambridge.

Peterborough has a very interesting history with human settlement in the area going as far back as the Bronze Age which can be seen in living colour at the Flag Fen archaeological site. Both the Romans and Vikings passed through Peterborough with the Romans staying longer - Roman archeaological sites have been found in and around the city.

Peterborough Cathedral is one of the finest Cathedrals in England with a history dating back over 1350 years. The Cathedral has a rich and wonderful heritage in addition to a blend of religious artifacts, diverse and interesting architecture, stories and legends and the acoustics are amazing!

This modern city offers other various attractions such as:

  • Ten pin bowling (there are two bowling alleys in Peterborough)

Peterborough is a very diverse and vibrant city and visitors of all ages will find something of interest for them to do.

Please note: Peterborough Museum is closed for refurbishment this year 2011 and should be opened again in 2012
